How to export your photos from CarCutter (and move to VehiclePhoto)

Secure the finished vehicle images first, then rebuild an orderly working library without reshooting. CarCutter documents bulk downloads in its Hub and gives processed content a short availability period, so the safest move is to collect all the photos while the current account still opens normally.

Ownership

What you own

“The Client remains the exclusive owner of the Content.” Its terms also say, “The Processed Content and all associated intellectual property rights, are the material and intellectual property of the Client.”
Read the published terms

That language covers both submitted material and the finished work. Keep a local copy of each category, preserve the original filenames where possible, and place a read-only backup outside either service before changing the current subscription.

Export

Get your images

CarCutter publicly describes its Hub as the place to search, filter, and download images. The page says downloads can be individual or bulk, which makes the bulk route the practical choice for a complete transfer.

  1. Download from the Hub. Open CarCutter Hub, search or filter for the image groups you need, then use its bulk download option. Repeat for any group that is outside the first selection and verify the saved files open locally. Source

VehiclePhoto

Move into VehiclePhoto

A complete local archive becomes a clean starting point. Group images by vehicle before upload, keep the unedited files beside the processed photos, and choose the transfer surface that matches where the files now live. Once inside VehiclePhoto, you can apply matching framing and branding without overwriting the archive.

  1. Bulk uploader. Open a listing, then drag and drop the image set into the bulk uploader. Individual images and folders can enter together, and the original files remain untouched.
  2. ZIP uploader. Choose a ZIP archive when the export arrives as one package. The uploader expands supported image files so you can check the listing before processing begins.
  3. REST API v1 ingest. For files already hosted at HTTPS URLs, send each URL to /api/v1/ingest with a REST API v1 key instead of downloading and uploading it by hand.
  4. Phone-capture QR handoff. When a missing angle needs a new photo, open phone capture on a computer and scan its QR handoff. The phone adds that image to the same work without a separate app.

Migration boundary

What carries over

Nothing automatic — there is no CarCutter connector. Files, folder names, and any notes you preserve can guide the move, but settings, processing history, account permissions, and Hub organization do not transfer. Recreate the desired brand treatment in VehiclePhoto and compare one finished listing before moving the rest.

Final check

Before you cancel

  • Download promptly: CarCutter says processed content is available for thirty days from creation and says it has no obligation to store client content beyond thirty days. Source
  • Build a count sheet by vehicle and angle. Compare that sheet with the bulk archive so an older exterior, detail image, or interior view is not silently left behind.
  • Open samples from the beginning, middle, and end of every downloaded group. A completed download is not useful if an archive is corrupt or contains thumbnails instead of full-size images.
  • Record the background, crop, logo position, and blur choices you want to reproduce. A short visual reference is easier to verify than relying on remembered account settings later.
  • Finish a small VehiclePhoto batch first. Confirm sequence and framing against the saved reference, then move the remaining vehicles after the new workflow produces the intended result.

FAQ

Questions

Can CarCutter images move in bulk?

CarCutter says its Hub can download images individually or in bulk. Use the bulk path while the account is active, unpack the result locally, and compare its file count with a vehicle-by-vehicle checklist before treating the export as complete.

Should I keep both versions?

Yes. Keep submitted originals and processed images in separate folders. Originals preserve the most flexible starting point, while finished images provide a reference for crop, sequence, branding, and the presentation you already approved.

What happens after upload?

Start with one representative vehicle and check its gallery before processing everything. VehiclePhoto can clean backgrounds, match framing, add branding, and blur plates, faces, or VINs; your archived source remains available if you want a different treatment.
