What it does
Choose a car, boat, RV, powersports unit, trailer, piece of equipment, or a commercial truck or van — and a sub-type if you've got one, like a pontoon or a fifth wheel — and this tool builds the exact shot list VehiclePhoto's own studio uses to process that kind of listing. Every angle is labeled with how tight to frame it and grouped by what it's for: hero shots that sell the listing, both-sides shots so nothing looks hidden, and close-up detail shots. Check items off as you shoot, or print the page and take it out to the lot with you.
Who it’s for
A one-truck dealer shooting inventory on a phone between customers. A lot manager training a new hire on what to shoot and in what order. A private seller listing a boat or a camper who wants it to look as complete as a dealer listing. Anyone who has ever gotten home from a photo session and realized they never got the odometer or the engine bay.
When you need it
Before you walk out to the lot or the driveway. Thirty seconds with this list means you don't make a second trip for the one angle you forgot, and it means every unit in your inventory gets shot the same way, so the whole listing looks consistent before a single photo gets edited.
What to watch for
Skipping the hero shots costs you the most — buyers judge a listing by its first photo, so get that one right. Missing one side of a both-sides pair (driver side or passenger side) reads as something being hidden, even when nothing is wrong. And detail shots — the odometer, the engine bay, a close-up of any damage — are what separates a listing buyers trust from one they scroll past.
Questions
Shot List Builder, answered.
Do I need special camera equipment to use this list?
No — this is a shot list, not a capture app. Use whatever camera you already have, phone or otherwise. The list just tells you which angles to get and how tight to frame each one.
Does the list change if I pick a sub-type, like a pontoon or a fifth wheel?
Yes. A sub-type can add or swap in specific angles — a semi gets a fifth-wheel shot a box truck doesn't need, for instance. Pick the closest sub-type you've got for the most accurate list.
Can I print this, or use it on my phone while I shoot?
Both. Use the print button for a paper checklist, or leave the page open and check items off with your phone as you go — nothing is saved anywhere, so refreshing the page resets it.
Why does the shot order matter?
The order matches how buyers actually scan a listing — hero angles first, so the first thing they see is the best thing. Shooting in that order also makes it harder to skip a shot without noticing.
